Middle School
Taking Your Child To The Next Level
The Rhoades School offers a unique and challenging Middle School program for students in 6th–8th grade. Our Middle School campus opened in 2019 and features 5,300 square feet of classrooms, STEM spaces, a sustainable garden and greenhouse, numerous athletic spaces, and more.
Our curriculum is rigorous and comprehensive. It prepares children for high school and beyond. Students build a strong foundation in English, math, science, and social studies. Elective courses enhance learning and broaden the educational experience.

Beyond Academics

All Middle School students take part in our advisory program. This program helps them feel comfortable as they move from our Lower School to Middle School. Instead of a homeroom teacher, our students have an advisor to guide and support them academically, socially, and emotionally.
Students meet with their advisors Monday through Thursday for 18 minutes and Friday for one hour. On Fridays, they talk about social issues, listen to guest speakers, do service learning, and spend time with their Lower School buddies. Our students learn how to solve problems, be good friends, and work as a team.
Every Middle School student picks an elective for the year. These classes encourage creativity and innovation. Students can record their own music for a commercial, build and code LEGO® robots, work on a project they love, or even make their own short film.
Students also join a club for the year. Some examples include Math Club, Stock Market Club, Girl Rising, Spanish Games, Poetry Cafe, Sustainable Gardening, and Strength and Conditioning. There is something fun for everyone to try!
We work with Laurel Springs School, a K-12 online private school with a Gifted and Talented Academy. Our students may take Laurel Springs classes at a discounted price. Classes include Mandarin, French, and Latin, as well as math, English, science, and history. Students who take high school courses at Laurel Springs will be given a transcript. Laurel Springs is an accredited UC-approved school.
